Living in community, serving community

Since the very beginning our work has been dependent on our network of compassionate volunteers, learners, donors and visitors from all over the world. We've built bamboo structures, retainment walls, produced and moved thousands of bricks, dug hundreds of holes for trees, made paper mache masks at the schools, and rammed earth into some of the strongest structures around. Our daily work is as diverse as the community we live in.

Our volunteer community varies from 8-15 people at any given time. Just as we serve Nepal, we serve each other. We take turns cooking meals, doing dishes, cleaning up our communal spaces, teaching workshops, and trading massages or chocolate.

Each month we different types of programs. Whether you are joining us for a four day rural immersion experience, a week long tree planting workshop, our 12 day dome building course or longer, we are excited to show you the beautiful culture and landscape of rural Nepal while give you opportunities to learn from local community members and our work.

Give Back

Our project is funded almost entirely by the fundraising efforts of our volunteers. We don't have any large grants or a billionaire CEO - in fact, our team is mostly volunteers! That’s why 75% of every program fee goes to supporting the community development programs in rural Sindhupalchok, Nepal. And 25% covers your food and accommodations.

COVID-19 SITUATION IN NEPAL

We are carefully monitoring the situation with covid-19 in Nepal. As of March 2022, Nepal opened its borders to both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals. The health and safety of rural Nepali communities is a priority for us and volunteering policies will be updated according to the community’s desires.
